Electronic identification (eID) is now the national standard for sheep and goats in Australia. From 1 January 2025, sheep and goats born in Australia must be identified with an NLIS-approved eID tag before leaving their property of birth, with full national implementation completed by 1 January 2027 (however, in Western Australia this applies to all sheep and goats from 1 July 2026). From 1 January 2027, all other sheep and goats leaving a property must be identified with an NLIS-accredited eID device before leaving the property.

We offer two NLIS-approved tag options:

  • Electronic Identification (eID) Tags - Mandatory
  • Visual NLIS Tags - Optional

Please note: From 1 January 2027, visual NLIS tags will no longer be NLIS-accredited under national requirements (state-specific variations may apply).
